no boot to hdd without xp disk

I am going to try fdisk as xpsetup will not delet 8 mb of something on the hdd I have 2 options when I install
76 gigs or like a 8 mb section
I am believeing that is my problem

The cable is attached properly but I may change to master just to make sure

well I figured it out . this is such a elementary problem and I should have known better .. the
ide cable was hooked up wrong.. a simple mistake I am sure that was made becasue I was going to fast
I also set the disk to cs and it boots like a champ now
it also is alot faster on boot even through the memory check and all .
I just want to thank all of you for throwing suggestions at me and be patient with me on this problem!! you are a real great group of helpers
