My computer started to hang and then reboot automatically a few weeks ago.
When it hangs I can hear random noises from the speaker, then when the noise
is gone the machine boots up again.

Then a few days ago it refuses to boot. When I press the power button, some
times the Vcc LED blinks once with nothing happening. At other times, the Vc
c LED is on (normally), fans are turnning, but the machine hangs at that poi
nt (there are no signals to the monitor and the BIOS doesn't load, and there
is no beep sound).

How probable is it to be a power transformer problem? Shall I buy a new one
for a try?

Not sure but I had the same problem with my computer. Happens during a cold boot (when I first turn the machine on during morning), the computer just hang there, no single beep to indicate the POST was ok, fans and light are all on. Problems solve by resetting the BIOS, (clear the CMOS by taking out the battery). Other factor if not solve by clearing the CMOS could be the power supply.
