Right now I need something to hold me off until vista/dx10 comes out and i can build a new system.
I need to be able to play oblivion/Ghost recon AW at respectable settings and performance.
This is what ive got:
2.0ghz northwood P4
256mb ram
ATI 9550
Asus PB4533 (Agp 4x)
500w PSU
ATX Case
I know im gonna need atleast 1gb more ram (so 1256mb total), what i need to know is if this CPU is competent enough for these newer games, given i buy a nice video card.
Im looking at these GPU's
x850xt PE
7800gs
x1600xt
And these CPU's
FX-51 (w/ pci-e mobo combo $250)
Athlon 64 3200+ or 3500+
or keeping my P4....
What new cpu is the fx-51 comparable too? Which athlon?
If i get the fx-51 i would be looking at a 7900gt for 300$.
So basically:
p4
7800gs
more ram
total $: 375
or
AMD fx-51
7900gt
ram
$650
or swap fx-51 for an athlon thats around 200$?
