Your suggestion sounds a little promising. I have learned that modems have imporved greatly since I bought this computer. So, maybe when the new computer is created I will see a little improvment.

if you ISP is only giving you 56k dialup, the most I would hope for in actual downlods is 5.5 or 5.6k max... You can have the best modem in the world and if you ISP is 56k then thats what ur gona get.

I have 56k dial-up and all I ever get out of it is 26k. On a really good day it will give me 28k. Unfortunately, I load on at 28k about once or twice every 3-4 months.
