this is never happend to me before but what happends if you have no miterial

between the heatsink and the cpu like artic silver or themalpads??? ive always wounderd

you get little gaps between CPU and heatsink, resulting in less effective cooling. it's completely fine, you'll just get a bit lower temps with it on.

higher temps mean lower life span of a CPU... It's kinda like not having enough or any oil in an engine. It might work for awhile, but performance will suck and eventually...BOOM!!!!!

it doesn't affect computers adversly. oil in a car is much more important than thermal paste on a CPU.
in fact, I'd compare oil in a car to what sort of cooling it has. if a car had low oil, it would be equivalent to a really tiny heatsink that barely gets the temps down.

thermal paste can give slightly lower temperatures, however a CPU can function completely fine without it.
the ony parts that would wear out are the mechanical parts (especially the hard drive)
