Help! Pc wont boot up!

I think the computer you put it in is trying to boot off your hard drive. it won't work, because the hardware is different.

go into the BIOS and make sure his hard drive is set to boot first

for some reason i cant reformat it, how do i make a format disk? his recovery disks are emachines and his computer is north gate.
