I need a few things straight in my head, please help.
400 DDR RAM gives 400 million data transfers per second, 3200 MBps data rate over the FSB. Is it necessary to have 800 MHz FSB to run at this speed or just 400 FSB? If the latter is true then what is the point of 800 or 1000 FSB when, if I am correct in my thinking, the only DRAM that runs at 800 MHz is RDRAM?
So is the RAM running at 200MHz (it is called synchronised DRAM after all) with 2 data transfers per clock cycle (how) or 400 MHz? Or does it matter?
Is 333MHz the fastest FSB an Athlon XP can do? in the case detailed above, does the big FSB difference between P4s and Athlons matter?
Am I asking too many questions?
