The reason I said this was because you said "Detecting IDE devices" is one of the things, so I though that maybe the BIOS thinks it is a EIDE, and thats why it is shutting down. That is just an idea I had, no idea if its correct though.

yeah well, i had the same problem, check and make sure that the hard drive is booting up, a lot of times my hard drive gets unplugged and because of that my computer freezes. You also mentioned that you get a blue screen even with other harddrives, try using a different power connector. Then try unplugging the hard drive and checking the bios.

Just to make sure, am I suppose to connect both the molex and the SATA cable?
Can I boot the HD using another computer, and still have it to work with mine?
 
One workaround is that you can buy a device for under $20 from newegg that is an IDE/SATA adapter.
After you've installed your OS - or while, since it gives you the option prior to installation - you can install your SATA drivers that came with the HD.
