Ok. What I want to do is build a new computer with some fairly awesome hardware inside it. I don't plan on buying all the parts at once but instead in pieces because I can't really afford to shell out a lump sum.
I am looking for help choosing a mobo, cpu and pretty much every other component minus the hard drives. I already have two Maxtor Diamond Max Plus 9 160gb SATA HD's waiting to be put to use. I attempted to come up with my own setup but then I realized that I really don't know much about different chipsets, sockets, and etc. In addition to the hard drives I have I just got ahold of a I/O Magic 8x External DVD/CD burner so I am set in that category. After doing some research I think I would be best suited with an AMD because while I do some gaming I do equally as much application use.
I mainly use my computer for multimedia. I watch a lot of video on my pc and I listen to about twice as much music. It is important that the sound card be fairly sweet because sound quality is important to me. Whatever video card you guys set me up with should have an s-video out as well as a standard yellow video out. The way my computer is setup now I have it hooked up to my television as well as my home theatre system so I don't need any speakers. I am looking to spend around $1500.00 USD give or take but I'm open to suggestions. Thanks in advance for any help.
