TC4200 docking issue

I recently got an advanced docking station and monitor stand for my TC4200. The dock did not have a drive in it so I purchased a HP DVD+RW slim sata drive and put in the docking station, but my laptop will not see the drive. I looked in BIOS but there is no listing for docking features, the drive also does not show in **bleep** management. I am currently running XP Pro and I have also tried Windows 7 32 bit as well and had the same result.

Can anyone give me advice on this?

Did you buy one from Compaq/HP, or did you get a 3rd party? Docks often require external power, did you attach the power cord for it?

It is a brand new HP #KP081AA with a 203w power supply
