Is it really necessary to use Windows 7 or will XP suffice

Your biggrest issue with XP over Win7 is the XP is 32bit. That means you won't get all your ram. Basically only 3Gigs will show up.

Not sure about the hdmi converter... I've seen it, but no experience.

Though, the lowered quality of iut has to be comparible to the card youre currently using... It'll also put sound out to your tv as well too.

The OCZ Golds are 1.65.....

I'm not really a RAM person/... Yes its lower latencys but high Volts... I really am not comfortable saying something on this.

Yes the ripjaws will do nicely, 1600Mhz and faster latencies. You don't really need the extreme low voltage of the other set, as OCing the new 2500/2600/etc CPUs is done mainly by adjusting the multiplier and nothing else
