Help me!! my laptop turns it self off!

Ok guys i came to this fourm because it looked the best! i hope you guys can help me.
One day i was with my friend and i was at his house. I had windows VISTA and my friend said "why dont you put xp on it". i said ok.
so we deleted vidta and put XP. Every thing went well!
but know... my computer turns it self off when it gets a little hot .
so i bought a cooling pad. still turns it self off...
any help on how to stop this?

Anyway, I think you have XP default drivers, not the correct drivers. If it came with Vista, it is very slim that they would have XP drivers. They don't make XP drivers anymore, It's a 7-year-old OS.

What is hot?

Sounds like the fan isn't getting regulated, and burning you up.

WHy did you downgrade? HP does not make XP driver for your laptop, so youre going to have to do ALOT of searching.

Good luck it has been done, but its a pain.

Start by finding an air-compressor and blowing all the dust out of your vent exhausts (any gas station should have it). If this doesn't help, then chances are that you have a hardware issue (contact HP if it's on warranty, problem is not unique and tons of people are having it). CQ60 are not the best with heat dissipation, so long term overheating might've damaged one of the motherboard components (most likely GPU).
