No way you're going to get a machine with a 24" monitor that can max out anything you throw at it. Building it yourself may be cheaper, but it's not a miracle worker. I'll try to price something together for you, but the reason your builds are around 1000 bucks would probably be because you want more than you want to pay for.

And what kind of games are these? It depends on the game whether or not you can max it out with the money you wanna spend...

I highly doubt a $500 machine is going to be able to play Crysis at max... A GPU to max it out is going to cost a majority of that, not to mention the CPU/enough RAM/etc.

I'd love to know the specs of these "maxing" machines. Because 500 bucks won't get you that much performance. You can't get something for nothing.
