Does using programs like StyleXP to modify the gui have any adverse affect on my systems performance?

yea, but if those are your computer specs, you won't notice it.

I agree with xotix, on an older system it would slow it down a bit but on yours, you should be fine.

Anytime you go fertzing with an application's GUI, you run the risk of screwing yerself. Be careful, and you won't run into any problems.

I just installed it . I'm using the BlackXP theme and it works like a charm. I have another question though. Will changing the bootscreen and login slow down my bootup? And what are the odds of it destroying my system?

u wont find too much difference (almost none) as if using windows XP, u already have fast system, what r u worrying about?

Those with 256MB ram or less that running win xp, althought it look prettier after using Style XP, but it cost u more system resources which might cos u lagging while playing games.
