Standby going to Shutdown

The thread title pretty much says it all. When I tell my computer to go to standby mode, it appears to be doing so and shuts down normally. However, when I turn it back on, it does a fresh boot... It used to work perfectly and then all this randomly started happening, any ideas?

Check your power management settings. Check to see if the Standby button is set to shutdown.
