My Computer Keeps Freezing!!!!!!!

Whenever I play a game my computer freezes after about 15 mins. I am compatible for the game that I am playing though. I've heard that it could be my motherboard but I just want to make sure.

does the computer just freeze, or does it restart itself?
also before it freezes does it get really sluggish and slow
