I'm planning on a new build around the holidays, and I would just like some reassurance. Currently I have a 320 GB Western Digital ATA100 HDD. I'm going to be getting a SATA HDD for my new build, but if I installed Vista on the new hard drive I could just boot from that and leave my old one in as a secondary right? No RAID. Also, how would I go about uninstalling XP without taking out the rest of my data?

Last thing: do you think the new mobos being released (nforce 700, X38, X4whatever) will have at least one IDE?

they should have 1 EIDE connector....

also if you want to remove XP from that one HD you wanna backup the stuff on that HD so you don't lose it

All motherboards will have at least one IDE slot. It's not going anywhere, for a long time.

you will have to copy and paste the data off of the old hdd onto the new one and then format the old drive wiping it clean. You may want to keep xp though as a lot of people downgrade from vista once the shiny novelty stuff has worn off
