SoundBlaster Audigy Conflicts?

Hi everyone, I have a Sound Blaster Audigy running on an ASUS A7V motherboard with VIA Chipset. THe problem i am having is that when i load up a game, the computer hangs, the speakers make a whaling noise, so i reboot, but get the error "No Disk Drive Attached".

Then I power Down, and power up and everything works fine


I know i have written this in a very complicated way, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have an onboard sound card that you havent disabled properly?

Nope, just the Audigy, thats all i have

how old is the motherboard? I didnt find it at ASUS under A7V
Check for a bios update that may address sound issues.
