Go for the e6420 instead. It's the same price with more cache. And that PSU is a great PSU. It's a little more than needed for that system, but it's good for headroom. You might want to consider the Corsair 520HX, for cheaper. And get the Gigabyte 965P-DS3 (rev1.3) instead. It's only $99.99 at newegg, and is a very good board.

ya then step up to the 8800gts.... u did cut of 70$ which u can use.... but add another 40$ and u have the xtra cash..... crap i hit submit button real late.... nvm

get the msi gts, its the same price, better cooling, higher clocks, it runs cooler, and you get the good name of msi... that really is an overkill on psu, but not an extreme, if you could drop down to the 520, and why are you getting an IDE drive
?

get a 200gb seagate, e6320, corsair 520, and if you need ide hdds, then get a different chipset, p965 only has 1, i belive.

Get this hard drive instead:
Newegg.com - SAMSUNG SpinPoint T Series HD501LJ 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM
Has 16mb cache for the same price.

For $1000 you could consider this list:
Case - Antec 900 or Cooler Master Centurion 5(Cheaper)
Motherboard - Gigabyte DS4 650i SLI or MSI P6N Platinum or MSI P6N SLI-FI(Cheaper)
CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo E6320
RAM - 2 x 1GB G. Skill DDR2-800 HZs
Graphics - EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 320MB
Power Supply - Rosewill RP550 550W
Hard drive - Seagate 7200.10 320GB 16mb cache
Optical drive - Sony NEC Optiarc DVD Burner
Optional aftermarket CPU cooler, if overclocking - Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro

he could also get the p35-ds3 thing.... if he took hte coolermaster centurion5, which is useful if he wants to overclock....

that build is gonna own... i would build something similar if my parents let me....

The Xclio Goodpower isn't as stable as the RP550...as in the 12's. However the name "Xclio" is just better known. Either are good PSU's but personally the RP550 is ROCK SOLID for the money....hardly any voltage jump.
