Hi!
I have a Compaq Presario S6500NX. My computer froze last friday after acting weird and sluggish for about 2 days. I held down the power button to turn off the computer. I waited a couple of minutes before turning it back on. After rebooting the computer, it went to a screen saying that: "windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
System32\Drivers\isapnp.sys
You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD-ROM.
Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair."
I had to reorder the recovery disks (there are 8 of them).
My question is what do i do now? Do i need to back up my hard drive before attempting the repair? I do not want to lose any data or software.
If i do need to back it up, where should i take it?
Also can someone give me a detailed walkthrough about how to use the disks?
Thanks in advance!
P.S. using XP
