what brand of HDD is highly recommended?

definitely seagate, they have a 5year warranty and they have the lowest failure rates.

NEVER buy maxtor, i have had 2 of my maxtor drives die within the same week.

Maxtor used to supply Compaqs and HP with their HDD's....after 2 years my Maxtor 80GB drive was just slow...noisy and old..

I would go with Seagate or WD. WD sells enterprise versions of their drives w/ 5 year warranties.

In no way are WD bad though, I am running a 250GB WD in my little monster right now. I can't tell you if its quiet becuase my other Apevia 120mm fans are louder than everything . Still pretty quiet though.

seagate barracuda 7200.10 have a 5 year warranty reliable and the fastest 7200rpm hdd's on the market but they run a little hot and dont trust the reviews loads of people have said the 500gb are loud they must have got a bad batch because mine are quite as of course the only thing i can hear on my case is the zalman
