hrm If i remember right perpendicular recording makes the storage data closer to each other thus making it faster. So id go with that one
 
I have a western digital 80gb sata hard drive, i havent used it yet, but you need to buy some sata cables seperately, i figured that out when it came in the mail:D, so my vote is the w.d.
 
The seagate would give you better performance, and both are OEM so you might not get a cable either way... but your mobo (if bought new) should have a sata cable that you can use.
 
Neither of those drives will come with a SATA cable... they are a couple bucks just about anywhere. My dual 500 Gig Sata drives came without cables, but I won't need them once I get the NAS box....

I recommend Seagate, as I have NEVER had a Seagate drive fail on me, but EVERY WD drive I have had has failed.
