Nope Skynyrd did it first. BC might have done a re-make, but it was written by Gary Rossington & Ronnie VanZant. It was released on the Skynyrd album (pronounced leh-nerd skin-nerd) in 1973. It was there first album (besides their Shade Tree Single[ it contained two songs: Need All My Friends and Michelle]) and it also included the songs:

Poison Whiskey
Freebird
