I plan on upgradding to 512MB, brand new nice video card a (Radeon 9500 Pro)..and a new processor...BTW For under 175 dollers can someone tell me a good processor for gaming?...Also if my computer is frezzing will getting a new processor help?

One you have to have atleast a 4x AGP slor to use an AGP video card.

Two your motherboard probabably doesnt support a processor that is much faster. But I will see what I can find.

I am guessing this will work. It is only lke $60 bucks. From what I could find the Duron you have has a 200mhz fsb and so does this chip.

The XP has a silghtly higher fsb and could work in your system properly if you fsb supports those speeds, but until you find out more you will never know.

I had a friend take a look at your problem.

The persons computer BARELY scrapes the minimum system requirements, and in my opinion, if he's planning to upgrade his computer he's better to do a big upgrade rather than a minimum one, 512 Ram will last to the end of this year/early next year due to more demanding games coming out, the videocard wont play many high spec games and the processor, most games that are now coming out will require 1 GHz and most likely more.

But back the original question, Yes, his computer will play The Sims 2, just not very well.

|EDIT| $175 amounts to £97.15...If your planning to get 256 of ram (£25) or ($45)

Radeon 9500 Pro: 128 Meg ($90) 64 Meg ($70)

In total thats $135/$115.

Now, there is NO WAY in my opinion that you will get a good gaming processor for that amount of cash, unless its worse than the one you've got, but you can search...
