So I'm running ubuntu and in my house I find a Windows system restore disc. I open this with WINE and I choose "Install Windows XP" and the installation appears to begin, but then it says "No valid system partitions are available. Setup is unable to continue." What can I do to work around this to install XP? I just wanna get rid of ubuntu, it's nothing but a hassle for me...

There wouldnt be any partitions shown if your ubuntu takes up the entire harddrive. best way is to format it beforehand (if you want ubuntu out for good) and then run the xp disc in boot mode and install from there.

I believe that Ubuntu uses different file system (FAT32) when installed on computer meaning that you should format your Hard Drive, boot up from Windows installation disc, Partition your hard drive in two different ones making the installation of Windows on the first partition and Ubunutu on the second one in order to dual-boot with Windows and Ubuntu. Windows uses the NTFS file system.
