XP CD Writing Wizard-- too slow

Hello,
My cd burner is a 12x. By the time the cd wizard copies the files and burns them it takes at least 25-30 minutes. That's as fast as a 2x burner. Can the CD writing wizard burn on the fly? Can Some one help, this is driving me crazy. Thanks... Jacob

System:
XP Home Edition
Sony Laptop, 1.2 pro., 512 mem, 12x cd/dvd combo.

What speed is your processor?
it is possible that copying on the fly will not work good enough..
