I actually think there is value coming in seeing a picture that hasn't been doctored in a way to make it look as great as possible via a marketing department.

I don't think sites like Engadget and the like doctor up the pics they take of it lol

They don't doctor them (though they will be touched up in Photoshop), but they are taken with very good cameras, and by people with excellent photography skills, always in great light. They're not what you'd call representative of what it usually looks like.
