worried about Microsoft's builtin logs....

http://www.microsuck.com/content/ms-hidden-files.shtml

go there, shows how to delete them, that way when it "phone's home" or a virus infects your system it leaves less ammunition for them to work with.

Then ask yourself this, why would an OS youve paid for hide anything from you?

I dont have a problem with log files, matter of fact they come in handy, but they shouldnt be hidden, they definitely shouldnt be buried somewhere where even setting the filemanager to "show all files" wont reveal them.

(v2.0 finished May 16, 2001; v1.0 finished June 11, 2000)

Written with Windows 9x in mind, but not limited to.

Obsolete.

I didn't read through all of it as I don't user IE or Outlook Express so I didn't need to know the procedure, but that's no doubt pretty sly and down right dishonest of microsoft if you ask me. Nothing should ever been embedded so that the user cannot access it easily, especially if the persons believes they are A) showing all hidden files B) Deleting all internet cache (specifically bank and personal information etc) and C) Deleting email archives (again personal), when they infact are not.

I had no idea microsoft was taking pointers from the FBI handbook...

Maybe. Maybe not. Have you checked your win 2000 or XP computer?

I haven't had a chance to, so I can't comment on whether it's obsolete or not.
