so i just set up my new wireless network. my laptop is the only thing using the wireless part. my desktops are all wired. now i want to know how to secure my network so my neighbors can not use it. it is a linksys router. i do not know much about networking.

You have to go into your internet browser and enter some address, I beleive it is "192.168.2.1" Try and copy that (without the quotations) and paste it into the address bar, no http:// or anything.
If not, Check the linksys manual.

well it depends on each router how u setup the secruity but .

if you like possibly in wireless setting and security settings then there should be options for WEP WPA or WPA-TSK i think it is enable 1 of them and enter your key.

you need to find your default gateway (start>run>type "cmd" then type "ipconfig" in the black box).
type this into your browser.
then login to your router (usually username: admin password: password)
then find the wireless bit and set encryption if it isnt already. id suggest nothing less than wpa. wep is crap and so is having it unsecure :p
you could have mac filtering aswell but its sooo easy to crack so i wouldnt bother
