Wired Router vs Wireless Router HELP

Go wired, you'll appreciate the faster speed and higher connection reliablility. If you need the connection to go upstairs, wait for HomePlug AV to come out. It's projected to have a 200Mbps service with 100Mbps+ acual support. What it does is use your existing powerline to network different devices. So if you have deadspots in your house that your wireless connection can't reach, plug the HomePlug into the power outlet (not powerstrip or extension) and connect your router to the homeplug. Since they usually come in pairs, plug the other one into wherever you need it, and plug your ethernet cable from the HomePlug to the computer. Ta da! Done! It's hassle free and you won't have any deadspots.

If you really want a wireless router, and want the option of choosing your connection priority, get the D-Link DLG-4300 GamerLounge router.

I think wired routers are useful.

Cost of wired router is less, reliability is high, performance is very good & security is also good as compared with wireless routers.

Get a wired and wireless router. Like.. Get one that does both. You can always have your pc hooked up to the faster ethernet ports. And anyone with a laptop, or Pc somewhere else in the house, can get a wireless adapter (or use buit in wireless in the laptop). Just if you do get wireless, you have got to secure it.

it would be going threw one floor, no concrete, just going from straight downstairs to upstairs. The room is right above where the modem is.
