Looks like Microsoft has officially announced Windows 11.
Don't know much yet except what's posted on some net sites, Looks like Microsoft is still going to use your data instead of a purchase for an upgrade from 10 to 11

Windows 11 Home edition requires internet connectivity and a Microsoft account to complete device setup on first use. Switching a device out of Windows 11 Home in S mode also requires internet connectivity. For all Windows 11 editions, internet access is required to perform updates and to download and take advantage of some features. A Microsoft account is required for some features.

Stated it will be available for all (consumers) this fall

So.... those DIY builders will now need to get a TPM chip. Do you think board mfgr's will start adding these chips now? As far as I know, I've never gotten a TPM chip with a board I bought in the past.

Edit: there may possibly be a work around for this. I just checked the manual for the bios on my Z170 board and it does have a PTT setting

If you have an older board as of this writing, it looks like your not going to get 11. I think if enough peeps scream about this (and I'm sure some will because getting a TPM chip is like finding hen's teeth, The great and almighty M$ may correct this TPM thing. The only pc's I know that use TPM chips are OEM pc's)

I just built this computer and uses a B450 motherboard by Asus. Wonder how i can find out if i have that TPM chip My computer could be obsolete in around 2025, When they are saying support will be done for windows 10.

I would be 99.999% sure that you would have a TPM header, but no chip
You could try to see if Asus will sell you a TPM chip, or look in your manual/bios to see if there is a security setting that enables Intel PTT or AMD fTPM. I posted a link on how to do that with the bios.
Seeing that there is a gigantic chip shortage.... it is unlikely that you could get one at this time.

Ok, i wasn't going to install it yet anyway. Let them get some the bugs out first and maybe in 2-3 years it might be a better system. I remember when 10 first came out. Deb had a new laptop with 8.1 installed in it. It kept bugging her to upgrade for free and she didn't lesson to me, it screwed up her computer but back then there was a way to restore back to 8.1. She got lucky. And learned her lesson.

I could see a lot of peeps with or without TPM headers raising a big stink over this issue. Without a TPM header on the board...your compelled to upgrade and those with TPM headers can't get chips. I've recently seen that $15. TPM chips 6 months ago are now going on eBay for $89. to $100.
Obviously the scalpers have jumped on this asap
