Windows 10 audio issue

The sound card was only replaced because the PCI pro audio card had no physical level controls and the USB card has level controls on the device itself.

Otherwise the sound card worked fine.

EDIT:

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.
For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at
windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline
repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag.

I'll shut down tonight and boot up tomorrow afternoon to see if the problem is fixed.

I gave you a link to the Voicemeeter Banana forum. Did you read it? They flat out stated that they have a buggy driver and it fails with Windows 10 updates. There solution was to uninstall everything and reinstall voicemeeter banana

I already did that once and it didn't work.

Been using it for at least two years on three computers with no problems with windows 10 updates.

I think you'll have to do that after every update when or if the audio buggers up. Which is on the second Tuesday of every month.
Personally if I were you, I'd dump that software for something better.

Edit: do your other pc's use pcie audio cards?

I never had to do that after every update for 2 years.

The other PC does use a PCI audio card.

The laptop uses its built in audio.

What software can offer me the same or better functionality and still be free?

well then swap audio cards just to see if it makes any difference, or you could try to just use the on board audio instead of the card

The PC with the problem used to use the same model sound card but I switched it to a USB sound card as that worked better for my current stereo setup.
