i found out that a computer my friend gave me with a fried psu for free just happened to have a 3.33 ghz 64bit processor in it... and i just can't let it sit here not being used any longer... i can't play games on my 1.9 ghz laptop =/

SO!.. will this:
http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=211494638&listingid=46769389
(i also need a case, because a year ago we totally tore it apart and were to lazy to put it back together... im guessing the old case is now in the garbage..)

work as a replacement

for this?:

(which is fried because of a power surge)

and another question, if the psu was fried because of a power surge, is the board also fried?.. it doesn't smell fried..

Seems so. Key points- One (1) 12-inch 20+4-pin ATX connector One (1) 12-inch 12V power connector. Matches the original PSU.

thought so, i just wanted to make sure before i bought it... also, it doesn't list how many peripheral power connectors there are... how many are usually on a psu??

It does, read between the lines. It seems that large = 4 pin molex, small = floppy power connector. And then each one has a single Sata connector.
