my friend has a amd athlon 64 3000+ msi k8n neo 4 platinum 6800 gs co edition and wen he turns on his comp the screen has all these zig zag lines across the screen. wen he turns it off and leaves it for a long time, it sometimes happens and sometimes doesnt happen. anyone no y?

Well, does he have fans? Even though i dont see how it would happen on startup. The video card might be defective, or its simply overheating, thats preety weird. Why dont you take his video card and put it into your computer if you can and see what happens with it, from then we can think of other ideas if that doesnt work

yea he has fans in it- antec p160w. and thats his second one, he already exchanged the first one. and i dont use pci e i use agp

Looks like its overheating. Simple solution. New video card.. Really, their isnt another choice, because it sounds that he has ample cooling. So there is nothing he can do about it.

it would be an upgrade from what he has. if you gotta get a new one you might as well go bigger and better.
