why no volume after reinstalling

WIN XP?

I format HD then I reinstall my XP, there is no sound nor volume, I've checked speaker, sound actually it worked fine before I format, does it happen to anyone?

Did u check the drivers maybe windows could not find any.Also if it is pci try another slot.

I check it now, also my xp keeps rebooting every 10mn, I've heard that I have to update sp2 from microsoft as virus spread on xp during April?
will that affect my volume?

Listen you need to use the SP2, it is just a huge thing of windows updates. Now, for the sound, make sure that all the settings are correct. To do this, go to Start -> control panel -> sound -> make sure everything is set up there correctly.
