Why is my pc dectecting 3 cd drives?

My Dell Dimension 2400 is detecting 3 cd drives when I only have 2. My computer shows 3 cd drives, DVD drive(D), CD drive(E), and the mystery drive CD Drive(F). What is the CD drive F?

Have you by any chance got a USB key with a password protector on it, thats making itself into a fake drive to stop it being accessed?

Have you by any chance got a CD imager, thats creating images into a drive thats not really there, for playing without CD's? For instance Alcohol 120%?

I got a regular Dell usb keyboard, I Dont have alcohol 120%, I have Power ISO, Win Rar, Winzip, Nero. What else can cause this? Thanks

Possibly Power ISO.

Check the settings on the program to see if its creating a virtual drive for storage of ISO files.

Yeah, most likely PowerISO doing it.....from the Start Menu>>>PowerISO>>PowerISO Virtual Drive Manager. THis will bring a prog up in the sys tray, right click that, go to Set Number of Drives, and select Disable...that should do the trick

People use virtual drives to load images of discs, either made themselves, or downloaded off the internet. Here is a link to more information about Disc Images.....
