Why dont we all hibernate........

yea standby is totally different than hibernation. the pc is completely off when you hibernate but in stand by its just in a power save mode.

to those who thought this was a thread about humans hibernating, i made it sound like that on purpose so that more people would read the thread.

yea, you can pull the plug on a hibernating PC, and plug it in in a week, and it will resume.... ie, no power being used.

i am crunching most of the time, so whenever i do power the PC down, i give it a shut down because it could do with a restart every couple of days.

I only use stand-by. And about once a week I'll restart.
