why arent my posts counting?

So I just noticed that all my posts arent being recorded in the post number next to my name. It kinda seems like every other post counts or something like that. Right now it says I have 4 posts but I just posted and It still said the same thing. Any suggestions?

Post counts are ideally supposed to be a reflection of how much you contribute to the forum....posts in off-topic aren't usually helpful to members in terms of technical stuff, so they don't count toward your posts.

It's like this in quite a few forums actually.
