A lot of people say the 2" makes a difference, but it really depends on where you're watching it. I have a 37" LCD and it's great when viewing it from a few feet away...it actually looks a lot bigger than it is. Go with the 40", Sony makes excellent TVs. My parents have a Bravia and have no complaints whatsoever. Looks nice too.
