I got this one for Christmas, it cost $600 w/o tax. http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Acer...63314/catOid/-12963/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do

I will use it for web surfing, playin/dl-ing music, burning dvds, word processing, maybe some games. I know this

one is better, but should I spend the extra $130 on it? Like will it make a huuuge difference. I just want one that runs really nice and is not slow. And I figured the X2 would last me a lot longer than the other one maybe.

My PC is 2 years old now; I built it. It is socket 939, AMD Athlon 64 3000+, 160GB hard drive, 512 MB RAM, 9600XT or Pro (cant remember). I know I can upgrade this easily if need be for cheap, right? I thought about selling the PC, and getting the nice laptop, but if I keep the PC I might not need the really nice laptop. I dunno, what would you guys do? I'm in college in a dorm and do not live with parents when school gets out, so its not like I have a 'home' computer, just the PC in the dorm with me.

Thanks for the help!

You have an AGP based motherboard?

I would get another 512MB of DDR 400 ($50)

if you want to throw a little more money around

1. Get an PCI-X based motherboard (S939) ($60)
2. Get a 7600 GT ($100)
3. Get another 512 MB DDR 400 ($50)

Total = $210

:D

I say go for it. The price difference isn't much and currently with the $100 MIR that Circuit City has the one with the Turion X2 is actually a bit cheaper. You get a bigger hard drive, a "superdrive" (not sure what makes it so super...) and the dual-core mobile processor.

You could always upgrade your desktop PC, but mobility is something that desktop PC's will never have.

The price on the Turion 64 says $749, but we got it on sale for $600. If I got the Turion X2 laptop, would it be just as powerful, less, or more powerful than my current PC?

Hard to say. Comparing apples to oranges really, but the Turion X2 is certainly faster and can handle more.

deff get the second one
and if your not ganan sell your current rig
just upgrade it to a gig of ram and a 7600 geforce graphics card and it should handel all games fine
