Hey,

I recently put together a system, the following are the specs....

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+
Gigabyte GA-M55PLUS-S3G
XFX nVIDIA GeForce 6500 256mb
2x Kingston DDRII 512mb RAM (Dual Channel)

Now i want to know, out of both the GeForce 6500 and the onboard gfx (i think its a GeForce 6100?) which is better?
Below are links to both the motherboard i have and the graphics card:

Gigabyte GA-M55PLUS-S3G

XFX GeForce 6500 256mb (note: link says 64mb but i have the 256mb version):

The reason i ask this question is because for the first time today i decided to use the onboard gfx, and was resulting in better performance than the 6500?

All help is much appreciated.

Thanks,

Matt

If it was better performance then just use that...Although I would probably use the 6500 , kind of outdated though.

Scan's a great store for the UK isn't it? Great prices.

If you get better performance on your onboard card you could just use that? :p but if you like games you should probably get a new one like you said.

Hmm... you sure you don't want a better graphics card? I mean your rig is pretty nice, and then that graphics card... idk. Still, the 6500 will still be alot better than the integrated!

Yeah i am in Australia and a mate brought the graphics card in UK off scan. great prices!

Anyways, i am starting to gather some money for a new graphics card, but still seems very weird why the onboard runs better than the offboard.
