What's up with AMD Fusion?

What's going on with AMD fusion? What is it and when can we buy it? I just saw an articl on Wiki, but I don't trust it. Is it true? What would the advantages/disadvantages be? Would we have graphics cards anymore?

AMD Fusion is FAR from being complete. It's just AMD/ATI's idea of combining the CPU and GPU into one unit. Don't expect to see anything about it until later this year or sometime next year.

yeah its gonna take ages to compkete but i suspect when finished they will own intel unless they team up with a gpu maker or better bring out processors with integrated ram

Well Intel is getting into the graphics card business so their partner can be themselves. nVidia is also thinking about making proccesors.

yeah that would be kind of weird..

the biggest advantage will be in laptops. Desktops i see no reason why to use fusion. In laptops, this will make it so that there is only one chip to cool and it will make it cheaper once AMD gets the manufacturing process down and yields are high.

Yeah, unifiying things will make notebooks easier to produce and cool.
