What just happened?

This PSU has a MTBF of 100,000 hours, so if I left it running at full load for 11ish years, THEN it might blow up.. Of course keeping it dust free and crap.

Yeah, but that's the mean time. You never know, there are way too many variables.

that has happened to me a few times too. Everything else flickers and goes out but my computer continues to run. Even the monitor shuts off but that's it. I have a 700W PSU so maybe that stores enough power to keep things going.

Does the word "spike" mean anything to you guys? No matter how beefy that bitch is you get a spike and it's going to be just another metal box with dead parts in it.
Be smart, shut down and unplug during a storm.

But, seti, you are right about that... I got really lucky one time when lightning struck the transformer right across the street from my house. Only bad thing that happened was a fuse or two was blown in some appliances like TVs and VCRs, but still... I was really worried about my computer because it was still on when this happened and I wasn't able to check it for 16 hours or however long the power was out.
