MRT (subway) and buses have the city covered from ~6 am to midnight. Waiting time is ~<3 min or <10 min for MRT or buses, respectively. MRT is ~1 USD/trip; buses, ~0.5 USD/trip, with automated 50% discount if you just got out of MRT. Most people use cards (either stand-alone or built-in a CC) to use MRT or buses.

In Delhi, India the public transport facility is quite good. Both bus and metro have good service and we don't have to wait for long except some exceptional days.. No doubt they get over-crowded during peak hours, that's the only reason that I avoid travelling with public transport during peak hours.
