Basic Input Output System is known as a BIOS. The BIOS is a small program which pre-loaded on the computer systems having Window as an operating system.
The BIOS is the first program installed onto the computer system even before the operating system. BIOS is simply used to start the computer system.
CPU access the BIOS to locate all Input and Output devices when we start the computer system and ensure that all hardware connections are properly functioning or not.

It is the program a computer's microprocessor uses to start the computer system after it is powered on.

Functions:

  1. It is the program a computer's microprocessor uses to start the computer system after it is powered on.
  2. To make sure that computer hardware is functioning properly and there is no issue with the hardware.

The major fuction is to control I/O device once system is powered on also help in some advance level customization with hardware.

Hey there! Think of your computer's BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) as its little brain and bodyguard. When you hit the power button, the BIOS wakes up first, doing a quick checkup on your computer's hardware to ensure everything is ready. It's like your computer's personal health check.

Once given the green light, the BIOS passes the baton to your operating system (like Windows or macOS). It's the behind-the-scenes hero, ensuring everything runs smoothly without you even realizing it. So, in a nutshell, BIOS is your computer's backstage manager, ensuring all the players are in tune before the show begins!

There are actually two types of BIOS, the newest being UEFI (although this is still referred to as BIOS by most technicians)

In short, this is a chip inside every computer that controls basic input and output functions between internal components such as hard disks, memory and processors etc, you may have noticed a screen that comes up when you start a PC, this is the BIOS checking that these components are working correctly, before the operating system loads
