I was having a talk with my sister about this a few weeks back. (BTW, I am 29 and she's 27. )
I copted it a lot in primary school and early high school, where she copted it a lot in late high school early collage.

I can not comment on what my sister got grounded for. However I did got the following
Year 1987 - I when though a bit of a kleptomaniac back then. And over a period of about 6 weeks, I stole $100 from my parents. They did not know whether it was me or my sister. They did not say any thing. But they found out when from my babysister when I was able pay for lunch with a $10 bill (back then, $10 was worth a lot).
I was grounded, no freinds, no tv, no toys, no lunch money until I made up for the stolen money by doing house chores.
It took about 4 months to work that one off.
It would of been sooner if i did not get caught stealing a few other things here and there.
And there a few times where i got "the belt"
After that one, some of my groudings where pretty screwed up.
Year 1989 - The family went on a 4 month holiday in the USA. Anyways, what started off as a fun idea of having a travel log outlining what we where doing turned into a really bad idea.
What Dad really wanted was some thing that could be preserved for the rest of my life time. And it was getting down to the pointed where he wanted every minor detail noted down. Including the week when i was catching up with an old childhood freind, and we did nothing more than play Nintendo.
Anyways, my dad was getting rather annoyied that my travel long was a few week behind. And when we came back, not only did he want me to complete actually writing this thing up. But he wanted me to type this thing out on computer. And until finished that, me was grounding me every week end.
Year 1991 - I was getting a little sick and tired of doing my paper run. Firstly they changed my route. The route got changed over so that I had to deliver papers into area where there was some kids that I did not like (I got bullied a lot when I was kid).
Secondly, my best freind at the time family was opening a petrol station soon. And he was seeing about getting me job there.
Finally, I was doing my lawn mowing business back then where I was making a lot more money for a lot less work.
My dad was not letting me give up this paper run job. And when he did find out that I quit (against his wishes), he grounds me and ostracize for 2 weeks.
Year 1993 - Now this one was the totally f**ked up one. Parent teacher interview for year 10. My dad tells me to arrange interviews after 7pm. The problem there was that my most of my teachers where not avalable after that time as there was a year 11 Perent Teacher Meeting at the same time for my school. Anyways, I can only arrange a few interviews with about half of my teachers.
While waiting for the interviews, he starts digging into me about why I could not get the rest of the teacher. However he was not listening to me when I told him that he wanted after 7pm. He then gets this mis-conception that I must be a real trouble maker in class, when the only real complaint was that my handwriting is poor and that I could do a little better.
So after the last scheduled interview my dad was really digging into my about the 2 valid points and this big misconception. So I tell him that if he really want to get in touch with any of my teachers tonight that he sould wait until Year 11 Parent Teacher Meeting was over.
So we wait, and he continues to dig into me. Especially about my hand writing. And then he grounds me for 6 months.
I then stand my ground. I tell him off that he wanted interviews after 7pm and most of my teachers where not avalable then because of this other meeting. After that, he ostracizes me.
He finally got to speak to my remaining teachers.
After that, it was about 2 weeks later that stopped ostracizing me and lifted my grounding. Mind you, my mother had to do a lot of convincing to my father to get that to happen.
