What difference between SymantecAV and NortonAV?

I'm confused.. aren't these the same things? I'm trying to find the antivirus software that provides frequent updates and does not install annoying useless programs onto my computer, my choices are Symantec.. Norton.. or Avast!, which do you guys recommend?

I think Symantec is just the manufacturer of Norton 2004 and Systemworks.Go for Symantec though!

thx, but under the drop down menu on this webpage.. http://www.symantec.com/downloads/ .. it says Download Symantec Antivirus and another one called Download Norton Antivirus

but thx =) i probably wont use avast, i dont think they make the viruses like some company @_@

Edit: i think symantec antivirus only for Palm OS or whatever that is
