Do these ide connectors look normal?
Aida32 says my mobo has the same name as my computer, Dell Optiplex gx280.
Also, the ide cables look way to thin to be anything but proprietary.

I'm buying a new case for this machine soon, and I was thinking maybe if this mobo is proprietery I should just buy a new one.

Those look like a different type of IDE ribbon cables

I think that's just what old IDE cables look like....

Yea, but don't let the weird IDE cables make you want to change your whole system

Do you need any recommendations?

Well I was looking into a new mobo anyway, max ram on mine is a measly 2 gigs. Im not sure what socket type my cpu is, assuming its 775 but I'm doing a quick google to make sure. If you have any mobos in mind, I would like to know.

Edit:No its 478, googled intel p4 3.2 ghz all results had 478 as socket type

Well you will already need a new Processor and RAM

Probably a newer HDD because it might not be compatible with IDE HDD's

Definitely a new PSU

Basically you are looking into a whole new build

If you are ok with your processor (and that's not a bad processor at all) then I would say just get a new mobo. But those IDE cables just look like they're really cheap, and made like that to save on cost.
