Haha, in other words, let's hope you don't have cox.... For 4 years now, we keep having guys come out and look at the computer in my mom's room, turn and say 'its the splitter' or 'you need to get vista' or 'this is an incompatible modem' or 'get rid of the router' They never give us any competent answers even when I show them the problem. The real problem is that they were extremely lazy while installing our cable, so instead of putting a coax plug in the wall, they just drilled a hole, and forced about 100 feet of cable through the wall, bundled it up, and left it. That cable now has a break in it right near the plug, but they won't admit that because it means more work on their part.
