So on another form a guy wants to sell me a vantec stingray stg-100 NIB for $75, I have an as rock990fx, which is AM3+ and a hd6970, the kit says it is universal but in the socket types, it only seems to list Intel socket and up to LGA775, can anyone confirm that this will work on AMD platform? And has anyone ever used the kit? Tiger direct reviews give it a 4.5/5

I think the retention mechanism for all AMD CPUs from socket 939 onwards is the same so it might work. Not totally sure though.

I would not use that kit. No way is a single 120mm rad going to keep your cpu cool let alone cpu and gpu. Im using 480mm of rad to keep an 8150 and a gtx570 cool. I would stick with high end air if I were you. A good water cooling kit for cpu and gpu will cost around $400. I dont think you will be happy with the performance of that kit. If you want a kit look into the h100 or something like that. if you want to learn about watercooling overclockers forum is a great place to learn.
